Modeling Digital Ethics and Responsibility

What are we doing help educate our students about digital responsibility? Are we modeling safe and ethical digital citizenship? Instead of blocking websites and banning cell phones we need to begin developing and practicing our own digital ethical and responsible, “cyberesposibethic” behavior in order to be quality role models for today’s digitized youth. Professional development and training is necessary for us to better prepare today’s digital children. What are we thinking? What are we doing? Are we being proactive, digitally sound role models for children? If you are not sure how to answer these questions, I encourage you to check out some of the resources below. They will assist you with developing effective strategies to help our students learn, practice and share as they become responsible and ethical digital citizens.

Howard Gardner’s Research Project, GoodPlay Project, discusses how the behavior of today’s digital students is being shaped by their participation in social online digital media.
